3rd reaction: Why did they have Jack be such an ass to Ianto all season?! We were promised evolvement in their relation, and this was not it!

hmm, isn't there a rumor going around that the last DW-special will be one big reset button? That would mean for Ianto too, no? I suddenly like this theory!

What happened to the prettyness? 3x02 was so very pretty, and this one was so very not.

Let's start with the worst offender in Not Being Pretty: Hub2. I never thought I'd ever say this, but: this place looks even worse than the original Hub. And it doesn't even have the redeeming cool vault-door.

Jack bitches about his clothes for some reason I don't understand, because that shirt really works for him. He hasn't looked this good in a long time.

ROFL THAT WAS HILARIOUS. Especially the Ianto/Rhys fight.

- What did it feel like? You were blown up!
- Wasn't the best of days.
- But, did you feel it? Or did everything just go black?
- I felt it.
- ...shit.

- Do you ever think that, one day, that you won't come back?
- I'm a fixed point in time and space, that's what the Doctor says. I think that means it's forever.
- So one day, you see me die, of old age, and just keep going.
- Yeah.
ugghh don't let this be foreshadowing.

- Better make the most out of it, then.

Once again I fail at getting this done before the next episode airs. But this one took a while because there was so much awesomeness that needed to be picspammed.

Badass Gwen is AWESOME. Let's also take a moment to appreciate the fact the she used 1)her teeth and 2) a heavy blunt object to fight off two guys that are bigger and stronger than her. Good girl!

Okay, I didn't love Lois as much as everyone else seemed to in the first episode, because she was just sitting behind a computer and taking calls. but this episode she actually started doing things and it was awesome. "I'm a PA, this is what I do!"

The first three Torchwood-audio plays were pretty forgettable, but if you haven't yet, you really need to listen to today's play. Ianto finally talked about the issues in the Jack/Ianto relationship:

Just woken up beside you in the middle of the night and watched you. Watched your eyes moving behind your eyelids as you dreamed. And tried to imagine what a man like you could possibly dream about. picspam: compare/contrast - Rose/Martha/Donna

1. "Um...the inside's bigger than the outside?" The first time they see the TARDIS

Donna starts on the inside and is shocked to see the outside, while Rose & Martha see the outside first and are shocked to see it's bigger on the inside.

All three go around the TARDIS...

...and go back inside. They all remark the inside's bigger than the outside.

Rose and Martha stay, Donna runs! So all three are in the opposite position they were in before (outside- inside).

2. "You're not mating with me, sunshine!" Getting into the TARDIS as a companion.

In this entire sequence, Donna plays the part the Doctor normally plays. Here, she's the one standing in front of the TARDIS asking if she can come. With Rose & Martha, the Doctor asks them to come while he's standing in front of the TARDIS.

The person facing the TARDIS has doubts...

...and the person in front of the TARDIS convinces them. With both Rose & Matha, the deciding factor is time travel. Donna just has to make clear she's not interested in mating with the Doctor:)

Happy times! Once again, Donna & the Doctor reverse roles since it's the Doctor saying "it's bigger on the inside" this time.

3. "This is me, getting out." Leaving as a full-time companion.

Rose leaving was a shock for both her and the Doctor. Martha knew she was leaving, while the Doctor didn't. The Doctor did know with Donna, while she herself didn't. In a way, Rose leaving was no one's choice, Martha's was hers, and Donna's was the Doctor's choice.

Rose & Donna don't want to accept that they're leaving, Martha does.

All three try to negotiate, to have the Doctor a bit longer. "Why can't you come through properly?", "If that rings, when that rings, you better come running. Got it?", "Please, don't make go back." Only Martha is succesful.

In the end, Rose is devastated, Martha is happy, and Donna is ehm...blissfully unaware?

I had planned to make more comparisons between them, but then this would've gotten waaaaay too long.

So, I contacted Photobucket.
I guess it didn't have anything to do with my Pro-account expiring, but I still don't know what exactly caused it. In my very first mail I mentioned I have no problem uploading things, so they replied that they tested uploading and it worked for them. huh? I replied again saying the issue wasn't uploading, because the pictures were already uploaded and looking fine until they suddenly had a drop in quality.

Their final conclusion:
We are fairly certain, that there may have been a technical issue at the time
of upload which caused the reduction in filesize, and that perhaps, you did
not notice this at the time of upload.

...right. 'Cause I do not see the difference between a pixellated blob and a head.
Anyway, it would really suck if this was actually true, because that would mean none of you could've ever saved the hq-versions of my icons. And I need those!

I've re-uploaded my last three icon post (except for an icon or two I don't have anymore), but those are the only posts I still have the icons of. So, if you've saved some of my icons and you could send them my way, I would be eternally grateful. Please?

2 months ago, I bought a paid Photobucket account that has now expired, and suddenly all my pictures look like they've been saved in low quality.

I didn't have this problem before I bought a paid account. So basically I'm being "punished" for actually giving Photobucket money in the first place, as everything would've stayed the same if I hadn't.

It seems okay again when I upload new pictures, but I don't have every icon saved on my computer so now there'll be low-quality icons where there were pretty ones before:(

+ Back from Sweden! Stockholm is amazingly pretty. Lots of water, amazing architecture and nature and lovely designs everywhere. We were very lucky with the weather there (sunny and about 11 °C). Less so in Sundsvall where we stayed, though it was pretty cool to see the rivers being frozen and lots of snow when it wasn't actually freezing anymore. (yes, this is a weird thing for me) But I had a great time !
+ DW was...okay, I guess. Loved the arc-building in the last scenes and Malcolm. Though I was thinking the whole time Martha could've easily been written into this one.
+ The spoilery filming pics for the last DW specials are making me ridiculously happy. I hope it will actually make sense in the end, but just seeing everyone will probably shut down my rational-thinking-abilities anyway.
+ How great has Dollhouse come to be? Loved the last episode. I feel it's finally found the right balance between Joss-humour and intentional this-is-making-me-so-uncomfortable. Even if Elizah still can't do anything besides Faith.
+ Watch Kings, people. If Dollhouse+Kings get cancelled, 2 of my 3 must-download shows will be gone:(
EDIT: apparently Kings has been cancelled already. Sigh.
+ New Ashes to Ashes starts monday the 20th! EEEE! I miss Alex's big hair, though.
+ I know I'm being ridiculously slow on the request icons but I'm getting them done, I promise.

Okay, I caved in and watched the pilot for Kings...and it was amaaaazing. Besides the show just being pretty and the music being phenomenal, the story is compelling, the writing is great, Ian McShane is of course magnificent,...
It's based on the Bible's David&Goliath, but I probably missed half the references and still liked it, because they seem to be building their own mythology. Here's a trailer for the rest of the season, it's got fragments of unaired episodes so it's a bit spoilery but I think it shows the essence and feel of the show.

Seriously, go. Watch. I haven't liked a pilot this much since Pushing Daisies.

picspam: reasons why I'm enjoying Heroes again (though I'll never forgive them for volume 3)

Yeah yeah I know, how very uncool of me to still watch Heroes, let alone pimp it. I recently saw Heroes in a list of "worst TV-shows still on" along with the most horrible reality-tv shows, and wth this volume does not deserve that. It's far from perfect, but it should be a crime that this volume, which is fairly decent, only has half the viewers the awful, awful volume three still had when it ended.

1. Less Emo, more Fun

This is probably the biggest reason why I'm enjoying Heroes again. Last volume, everyone was emo! Claire was still whining about wanting to be normal, everyone seemed to hate their lives, the show just took itself waaaay too serious,...
But not anymore! Even though they're all in pretty bad places, they still have some fun, EVERYONE likes being able to use their powers, even Claire has seen the light! And the show seems to have made an effort to insert some humor without making anyone like a stupid 12-year old.

2. Everyone's together

Finally, about 2 seasons too late, literally everyone is involved in the same storyline, fighting for or against the same goal. Okay, Sylar took a little boring detour, but he's in now too. There's still different B-plots for different characters every week, but all of them are connected to the overall story. Even Lyle was involved!

3. The awesomeness that is Sandra Bennet

Whoah. The third ep of this volume is pretty forgettable, but it is ENTIRELY worth it for seeing Sandra not putting up with HRG's bullshit anymore. And it just gets better from there on! She actually helps Claire being a Hero, and is all around amazing. Bonus points because she doesn't need powers for it, or didn't suddenly become a kick-ass ninja. She just helps in the ways she can.

4. The HoYay
- Peter/Mohinder

Aww, my very first Heroes slash ship sails again:) Only for one episode really, but it was amazing, mmmkay. Just look at the smiles and the handporn.

- Matt/Mohinder

Sweaty wrestling! Mohinder "sacrificing" himself for Matt! Hurt feelings of ~betrayal~! Now if only they could talk about Molly...

- Nathan/Peter

Yeah yeah, they're brothers. There's just no way Adrian&Milo/ the writers aren't doing this on purpose.

- Luke/Sylar

Feel free to be squicked out, I know I am. But again, no way they're not doing it on purpose.

- Matt/Mohinder/Peter/Bennet foursome

This might just be me searching for something to put them in here. 'Cause making a list of Hoyay pairing in Heroes and not including Mylar is just not an option.

5. Peter Petrelli - original recipe

Remember that sweet, not-a-complete-idiot Peter from the beginning of S1? He seemed to have disappeared there for a couple seasons, but he's found again! The one and only good thing Volume 3 brought us, is the change in Peter's power. He can now only have 1 power at a time (and only gets them by touch), so he actually has to think about what power he needs. And he doesn't seem like a complete moron for not using one of his three billion powers in a time of crisis, because he doesn't have them anymore! Also, because he too is less emo now, he's really likable again.
And lickable. Milo's looking fiiiiine these days. /shallow

6. A show about People with powers, instead of Powers that people have

It's possible this is a side-effect of Peter not having every power in the book, but the powers are used sparingly and for a purpose. Not just to show off or make things worse. When people do use their power stupidly (ahem...Tracy?) they do get "punished" for it.
It also makes this volume feel "slower", like the writers don't feel like showing off every minute what they can do. I know some people find this volume boring for it, but I'm happy about it.

7. No Epic!romances, Time travel or Retcons-that-give-you-wiplashes

9. Next week: The return of Bryan Fuller
Technically, he returned last week as a consultive producer I think (and it showed!) but he actually wrote next week's episode. For those of you who don't know, he's the creator of Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies and he worked on Heroes the first season, and wrote "Company Man'.
And he's writing for Tracy, who is in need of a good storyline. Mohinder seems to be featured heavily next week as well. PARTYYY.

In conclusion, it's back to being a silly, fun show with the occasional Great Moment instead of the MOST EPIC HOUR OF TELEVISION it was trying to be.

I've noticed a lot of people friended me lately. I'm assuming most of you have friended me for my icons, but if you didn't please tell me! There's 300+ people who have friended me, which is a bit much for me to go through all those journals:) If you friended me 'cause you think I'm cool and you're cool and we have tons of cool things in common, please say so now so I can add you back and we can be exponentially cool together!

Other things:
- I'm actually liking Heroes again! Okay, enjoying it at least. It's not without flaws (MOLLY EXISTS. Say it with me, writers!), but my love for the cast will probably keep me watching this show 'till it's canceled, so it's good not to feel like it's a chore again:)
- I'm loving the new season of Skins. Except for Freddie and Cook, but everyone else is so awesome I'm willing to overlook that. Naomi/Emily must be my cutest OTP ever.
- Is there a start date for Torchwood yet? I'm far more excited about this season of TW than about the DW specials. Probably because the specials rarely are as interesting as the season arcs. Also, have you seen how badass Gwen looks in the new promos? It's weird that she seems to be the "front and center" instead of Jack, but I wouldn't mind that to be honest. I really hope for lots of badass Gwen (with some sweet Gwen/Rhys mixed in), snarky Ianto and fun&flirty!Jack.
- Freema looks FABULOUS in the Law&Order UK, but I refuse to watch Law&Order, even for her. Sorry,bb.

My exams are over! I can breaaathe again!
I'm finally having a relatively calm period ahead of me (tomorrow starts with a 10h day without any break, so it's really relative...). I've finally started watching SPN season 4 (ah, now I get the Castiel love!), and I thought this would be a good time to take icon requests.

Basically, you request and I'll be making it sometime this semester.

I'm already feeling defensive over Matt Smith, lol. Boy doesn't deserve all the hate he's getting right now.

That said, it's gonna take some time for me to get used to his lack of eyebrows. Of course, when I think of eyebrows, my mind immediately goes to Zachary Quinto. Now, if there's one person who could spare some eyebrow and give it to the needy...
